In June 2018 the Health Service Executive publicly apologised to families of children who were availing of paediatric audiology services in Mayo and Roscommon. A review established that 49 children had been identified as not being properly diagnosed as having hearing loss. An internal review has now taken place in the Health Service Executive and we have been consulted by a large number of the families affected. We are seeking explanations from the Health Service Executive for the failings to these children and ensuring that in the fullness of time they will be restored to full health and maximising their development academic and social skills.
