John T. D. O’Dwyer
John began practice in Ballyhaunis in 1968, having taken over as principal following the death of Patrick M. O’Dwyer. He has over 45 years of experience as a solicitor and has grown the practice from small beginnings to where it is today. He has a broad knowledge of all areas of law. In recent years he has specialised in representing professionals in difficulty.
John has been Coroner for South Mayo since 1974.
Evan O’Dwyer heads up the firms litigation department. He has an expansive countrywide civil and criminal practice and has advocated cases before the District Court through to the Supreme Court. He has developed a highly regarded road traffic, road transport and motoring practice and is regularly called upon for media interviews on these topics. Having worked in the Competition Directorate of the European Commission he represents many undertakings adversely affected by anti competitive behaviour.
Laura joined the firm in 2006 having qualified as a Solicitor in 2004. Laura has a large and loyal private client practice. This begins with residential and commercial conveyancing but also extends to dispute resolution when called upon. Laura is also an Accredited Mediator. In recent years Laura has aided many of her clients in land and commercial disputes, injury claims and has also developed a substantial criminal law practice focusing on circuit court criminal trials.
Laura is an accredited mediator.
Conor focuses on Employment and Corporate Law. Prior to joining the firm, Conor trained with a specialised corporate law firm in Dublin. Today he uses that experience in advising his large portfolio of locally-based business clients. This involves dealing with banks, accountants, professionals, unions and other companies on an ongoing basis. Conor also assists business clients in both domestic conveyancing and other private matters.
Conor has a diploma in Employment Law.
Elaine served her traineeship with the firm having joined in 2007. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2010. She is involved in all aspects of the practice and specialises in private client, residential and commercial conveyancing. She provides legal advice in the area of drafting of wills, estate planning and administration of estates.
Elaine holds a Diploma in Trust and Estate Planning from the Law Society of Ireland.
